For centuries the Franciscans have been charged with “custody” of the various shrines of the Holy Land. On Saturday, October 8th, at 1pm, we make a parish pilgrimage to DC’s well loved Monastery of the Holy Land in America, often known as “Little Jerusalem”. A Brother will lead us through full-size replicas of sacred Holy Land shrines including Mount Calvary and the Holy Sepulchre shrine in Jerusalem. We will also visit the Nazareth Annunciation and Bethlehem Nativity grottos in the lower church as well as a reproduction of the Roman catacombs. This is open to everyone – excellent preparation for those traveling to the Holy Land in November, and excellent formation for anyone seeking a simpler experience of pilgrimage.
Places are free but limited – please contact Dylan Thayer, Parish Coordinator, reserve yours as soon as possible. There is plenty of parking available; alternatively the Monastery is 0.7 miles from Brookland-CUA Metro.
