Choral music also forms a foundation of worship for many other feast days and special services throughout the year, including Advent and Epiphany Lessons and Carols and a rich Holy Week. Music at St. Paul’s ranges from the early Renaissance to commissions from contemporary and local composers.
The Parish Choir is an integral part of what makes worship at St. Paul’s so engaging.
They sing at the 11:15 Solemn High Mass (10:00 am summer Parish Mass) and for various feast days and special liturgies.
Adult singers are welcome to inquire about membership in the Parish Choir. Those with excellent sight-reading skills, experience in the Anglican choral tradition, and an interest in auditioning should contact Director of Music Dr. Jeffrey Smith at 202-337-2020 ext. 14, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Boy and girl choristers sing Evensong and Benediction at 4:00 p.m. each Sunday evening and rehearse twice during the week. This musical education program is modeled on the British college chapel and cathedral tradition. It emphasizes vocal training, challenging repertoire, and musical leadership.
Children (7-14 for boys, 7-18 for girls) may join at any time, regardless of prior training or experience. The program is free, and children of any religious affiliation, or no affiliation, are warmly welcomed. Please contact Director of Music Dr. Jeffrey Smith at 202-337-2020 ext. 14, or email@example.com.
